WhatsApp to Not Work on Windows Phones, Older Android, iPhones Soon

WhatsApp is available on a host of operating systems, including Android, iOS, and iPadOS. The messaging giant is rumored to enable multi-platform support to let users log into the same account on numerous devices very soon. But, it seems like Windows Phone won’t be one of these platforms. Even users running older versions of Android and iOS will not be able to enjoy the perks of this feature. Why?

In an official FAQ support page on its website, WhatsApp has today confirmed that it’s ending support for Windows Phone today. This doesn’t come as a surprise because Microsoft itself called quits on its mobile operating system. It ended support for Windows 10 Mobile earlier this month, which is saddening to see as a former Windows Phone user.

Apart from Windows Phone, WhatsApp also revealed that it’s ending support for devices running Android 2.3.7 and older or iOS 8 and older early next year. You barely have until February 1, 2020, to export your existing messages and transfer your data to a new supported smartphone.

Now, if you’re wondering what all devices and operating systems does WhatsApp support then here’s a list for your reference:

Android running OS 4.0.3+
iPhone running iOS 9+
Select phones running KaiOS 2.5.1+, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2

The messaging giant then goes on to warn users that some WhatsApp features will soon stop working on unsupported version of the operating system. It’s because the company has stopped active development for the same. Also, WhatsApp in the blog post mentions “You can no longer create new accounts, or reverify existing accounts” on the platforms listed above.

So, if you are someone who is stuck in the past and can’t seem to get rid of the Windows Phone you love then you no longer have a choice. It’s either your Windows Phone or your loved ones on WhatsApp – you can pick just one.

Mysterious Drones Spotted in Colorado and Nebraska; Sources Unknown

A group of drones was reportedly been spotted in the sky at night last week in Colorado and Nebraska that made the residents anxious and worried. The police officials in charge have no idea regarding where these drones are from. “They’ve been doing a grid search, a grid pattern. They fly one square and then they fly another square,” Colorado’s Phillips County Sheriff Thomas Elliot told the Denver Post. The drones have an approximate six-foot wingspan and stay 200 to 300 feet away from buildings. At least 17 drones have been spotted till now. They appear at around 7 PM at night and disappear at around 10 PM . Until now, the drones have not been caught doing any illegal or unofficial activities. “They do not seem to be malicious. They don’t seem to be doing anything that would indicate criminal activity,” Sheriff Elliott added. The Federal Aviation Agency, the Air Force, Drug Enforcement Administration, and US Army Forces Command confirmed that the drones did not belong to them.

Twitter Wants to Build an ‘Open and Decentralized’ Social Media Platform
